Bukit Panjang MRT Station : ウィキペディア英語版
Bukit Panjang MRT/LRT Station

Bukit Panjang MRT/LRT Station (DT1/BP6) is an interchange station serving Bukit Panjang New Town. It is the western terminus for the Downtown Line, with the line continuing northwards as a service route to Gali Batu Depot. The station will be integrated with the future redeveloped Bukit Panjang Bus Interchange in 2015.〔(【引用サイトリンク】 title=NEW INTEGRATED TRANSPORT HUB IN 2015; GREATER CONVENIENCE, SEAMLESS TRANSFERS FOR BUKIT PANJANG COMMUTERS )
It is connected to Ten Mile Junction and will be connected via a bridge at the LRT station's mezzanine level to the MRT station of the upcoming Downtown Line. A short distance away from the interchange station is Bukit Panjang Plaza.
There will be no paid link between the Bukit Panjang LRT Line and Downtown line, meaning commuters would be required to tap out and then tap in again when transferring lines. However, there will not be any extra fare charged as long as the transfer is made within 15 minutes.〔("Tapping out needed for line transfers at Newton, Bukit Panjang stations; no extra fares: LTA" ), "(NewsAsia )" 01 December 2015. Retrieved on 01 December 2015.〕
==History==
10,000 regular peak-hour commuters were stranded on the morning of 30 August 2001 because the LRT service was still being repaired after a power failure on the evening of 29 August 2001. An LRT train had hit a switch beam at the Bukit Panjang station at about 5.40 pm on 29 August, resulting in the power failure. It was some 16 hours later before the service resumed at 10.15 am later that day.
On 15 July 2008, when the precise station locations were revealed, the working name of the station was revealed as Petir MRT Station, named after Petir Road, but led to concerns that there would be confusion with Petir, which the station was not near to,〔(【引用サイトリンク】title=Downtown Line 2 Station Sites Named )〕 despite similar names used. After a series of public polling by the Land Transport Authority, on 16 June 2009, the finalized station name was revealed to be Bukit Panjang MRT Station.〔(【引用サイトリンク】title=Circle Line, Downtown Line 1 and 2 Station Names Finalised )
The location of the station and the lack of a connection to the LRT system caused local Members of Parliament to request a review, but was rejected by the LTA saying that it would be a "technical constraint" to force the line to curve sharply within a short distance to allow for a normal interchange station to be built. It may be thought that this is due to the different operators each operating the Bukit Panjang LRT and Downtown Line, thus the name 'Bukit Panjang' was to be supposedly used twice in the MRT system map instead of being an interchange. However, it added that a covered linkway would be built between Bukit Panjang MRT station and Bukit Panjang LRT station, and hinted that there may be new developments on the reserve site between the two stations.〔(【引用サイトリンク】title=Downtown Line can't swing sharply to meet LRT station )〕 Since then, the station has been marked as an interchange station, with the Bukit Panjang LRT Line, on the MRT System map.
